KOSOFE LG. BOSS HOLDS STRATEGIC STAKEHOLDERS' MEETING AHEAD OF 2023 BUDGET, LISTS ACHIEVEMENTS
To achieve efficient and effective service delivery to residents and stakeholders in Kosofe community in the year 2023; the council held a stakeholders meeting to brainstorm with community members to enable the council to fulfil all righteousness towards the next fiscal year.
The stakeholders meeting was held at the council Secretariat Hall, on Monday, 31, 2022.
Grinning from ear to ear with his lustre achievements, Kosofe number one man ably represented by his Vice, Hon. Oluwole Sosanya while appraising the last budget performances before the strategic stakeholders in Kosofe, which is a prelude to 2023 budget preparation held at the council's event hall said the Administration has faithfully and stoically implemented to the hilt, the budget of 2022 which is an aggressive infrastructural development that cut across the nooks and crannies of kosofe council.
"You would bear us witness that we have kept faith with our pledge of "promise made is promise kept." It is quite obvious that roads like Abioye, Awanatu, Araromi, Adebayo Mokuolu, Odubela, Ogundairo, Ajoke, idowu Dada, Julius Kadri and Ara Orin were not only reconstructed, but beautified with drainages.These roads run across all our local government zones and wards". Chairman explained.
Speaking further, he listed out other sundry and essential services rendered by his Administration as construction of Customary court/Administrative offices, Renovation and upgrading of Health centres with a brand new Ambulance, provision of utility vehicles for legislators, staff, market men/ women among other numerous activities which embraced sensitization programme on environmental cleaning and Education.
" Our Administration has done a lot within the short period we took over, as we believe in a pragmatic approach to resolving issues. It is on our record that the peace that had eluded this council in a cult related crisis had been brought under control, just as we have done marvelously well on provisions of welfare packages for elderly, vulnerable and widows. We implore those with genuine ideas and suggestions that will help boost our health care delivery, environmental challenges, market development, roads and Schools rehabilitation, to come forward and present these to us" he added.
The Council Chairman educates the stakeholders to strictly adhere to the projects that fall within the purview of the local government in measuring the performance of his administration.
The Head of the department, Budget and Planning, Mrs Adebimpe Adeshina, in her remarks, said the programme was a further attestation to the all-inclusive nature of governance under the present administration in Kosofe and its resolve to enshrine the principle of equity and participatory approach to governance.
She stated that a stakeholders’ meeting of such nature was a genuine platform where all opinions would not only be explored but would be critically examined for the growth and development of the council, stressing that having a people-oriented budget has always been the priority of the Ogunlewe administration.
She reiterated that no government can perform optimally without the input of the residents and business owners through revenue generation. They therefore appealed to the stakeholders to ensure prompt payment of local council levies and charges to the council pause, as this will assist in fulfilling their promises to the electorate.
Various suggestions ranging from road and school construction to provisions of utility bus, completion of on-going projects, empowerment, and youth engagement among others were mentioned during the forum.
The forum which comprises the Council Executives, Councillors, Management, Party representatives, the Youth Council, People Living with Disabilities, Civil Servants, religious and traditional leaders, market leaders, the Baale in council, Security Operatives, Community Development Committee (CDC) representatives, League of Imams, civil society Organizations among others were called to gather their inputs into the budget before which the council authority noted and assured them of working with their respective submissions.
