Kosofe LG Boss, Afolabi Sofola, Commissions Another Road Project As Kosofe Iyaloja General Lauds Him For The Road Construction
Just two days after commissioning three road projects, the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Hon. Afolabi Sofola has again officially declared another road in the Local Government Area for Public Use.
Hon. Sofola yesterday commissioned Babalola street which is located in Araromi/Ifako area of the local government.
Hon. Afolabi Sofola while commissioning the road, implored residents of the community to put the newly constructed road into proper use, adding that the construction of the road is in fulfilment of the campaign promises he made to the people of the local government.
Hon. Sofola was represented at the commissioning by his Chief of Staff Hon. Fatai Gbadebo.
Hon. Gbadebo in an interview with newsmen expressed delight at the road construction stating that the council Chairman has actually fulfilled one of the campaign promises he made to the residents of the Local Government while pleading for their votes in 2017.
He therefore urged the residents of the area to make proper use of the newly constructed road, stressing that the spate of projects commissioning across the local government in recent time by the council Chairman is a strong testimony to the fact that the tax payers’ money and the Internally Generated Revenue of the Local Government are being judiciously utilised.
“I am extremely happy, in 2017 while we were campaigning, I was part of the campaign team of Hon. Afolabi Sofola. And we travest the length and breadth of the local government together and while we were doing that he made lot of promises to the electorates in the area of roads construction, schools renovation, provision of adequate health equipment and drugs to our various health centres.
“It is quite evident in what we are doing here today that part parts of the promises he made then it’s what we are actually doing here today. It’s like promise made, promise kept”: Hon Gbadebo said.
Similarly, the Supervisor for gric, Social Youth and Sports Hon. Oyeyemi Oyetayo advised residents of Babalola Street to keep proper maintenance of the project in order to secure additional projects from the state and the local governments.
He added that the commissioning of Babalola street and some other projects in the local government in past one week underscores the commitment of the council chairman to the provision of adequate infrastructures across the local government area.
While the councillor of the Ward Hon. Ibraheem Bakare Olawale expressed satisfaction with the rate of infrastructural development going on in his ward while he at the same time asked for more projects.
He noted that the construction of Babalola street is a good development, adding that he had been in touch with some of the residents on the street to ensure its proper maintenance.
Meanwhile, some residents of the community have expressed delight at the construction of the road by Kosofe Local Government.
The Iyaloja General of Kosofe Local Government Area Folake Obanibashiri Awosanya, thanked the council chairman for deeming it fit to construct road.
The Iyaloja who actually resides on the street noted that the road was in a state of total disrepair before appealing to the council chairman for its construction.
The CDA chairman of Araromi/Gbagada community who also doubles has the Apex leader of APC in the ward, Chief Olukayode Onasanya thanked the chairman of Kosofe Local Government for coming to the aid of the community to put the road into good shape.
He disclosed that the residents of the community had suffered a lot from the poor state of the road which he noted is a very important access road to other areas in the community.
He said the people in the community are indeed very happy at its construction, and promised to ensure its proper maintenance.
While another resident of the community Mr. Ajewole Agunrege expressed delight at the construction of the road and give kudos to the council chairman.
He said with the construction of the road the resident of the community can now easily access other adjoining areas like Ifako, Soluyi, Gbagada through it.
