SOFOLA COMMISSIONS ADEOKUN STREET OWORO
The executive chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Hon. Afolabi Sofola on Monday 15th, 2021 commissioned rehabilitated Adeokun street at Oworoshoki to the delight of residents of the area who had been complaining of infrastructural deficit and neglect for some time.
While commissioning the road, Hon. Afolabi Sofola who was represented by Kosofe Local Government CDC Chairman, Hon. Segun Babatunde praised the CDA chairman of the street Alhaji Gafar for kick starting the rehabilitation of the street by fixing a quarter of the road with interlocking blocks before the intervention of the council.
The representative of the council boss disclosed that Alhaji Gafar did not receive a penny from the government for the selfless initiative he undertook on behalf of the residents of the street.
He therefore appealed to the resident of the street to make proper use of the road by, stressing that it was rehabilitated with the tax payers’ money while also noting that there are other streets in the area yearning to get similar infrastructure.
The CDC chairman also noted that Adeokun street is very important to free flow of traffic in the area as it is a link road to Olopomeji, berger yard and Oworo road.
In the same vein, Kosofe Local Government Leader of the House, Hon. Onayemi Olumide County praised the CDA Chairman of Adeokun street, Alhaji Gafar for joining hands with the local government to fix the road.
He therefore charged the residents of the street to imbibe good maintenance culture by not allowing any kind of mechanic activities to be carried out on it, adding that they should also notify the council in time any time they discover a pothole so that necessary repair could be carried out before it degenerated.
The councillor representing the ward in Kosofe Local Government, Hon. Sunday Omofojoye praised the council chairman Hon. Afolabi for the rehabilitation of the road which he noted is a very important link road to other areas at Oworo.
He declared that Oworo is no longer a marginalised area in terms of provision of infrastructural facilities going by the series of infrastructural projects which have been carried out in the area in recent time by the state and local government.
While the CDA vice chairman of Adeokun street Mr. Abiodun Samuel expressed delight at the rehabilitation of the road by the local government and assured that the residents of the street would ensure its proper maintenance so that it could endure for a long time.
