It was a combination of glitz and glamour at  
the grand finale of the maiden edition of Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon (Okla) Okla Unity Cup bankrolled by the Hon. representing Constituency Kosofe 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly.


 The epic final between Maryland United Football Club and Sporting royal of Oworonshoki was tension soaked and a great soccer artistry.

 Watched by a full capacity at Beko Ransome-Kuti Mini stadium, Anthony, Maryland United with superior firepower and combination of mobile defenders and attackers lifted the golden cup by 2 goals to nothing.


 The duo of a goal merchant, Samson Akingbade  of Sporting royal with four goals in his kitty and all round soccer artist, Francis Etuk gave the pulsating final the glamour it deserves.

 Speaking to the newsmen after the Presention of the golden trophy and other awards to the winners, the highly elated Sponsor of the soccer tournament,  Hon. Okanlawon appealed to Corporate entities and individuals with milk of kindness to pick up the gauntlet of sponsoring the type of soccer tournament.


 The amiable and Adonis lawmaker said the objective behind the soccer tournament was to unify the young people especially the restive youths and disconnect their minds from undesirable enterprises.


He added that the tournament was a veritable avenue to discover raw talents at the grassroot level who can represent Nigeria in international games. Okanlawon promised to make the tournament an annual event.

 Echoing  Hon. Okanlawon's aim, the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, ably represented by Senior Special Assistant on Special duties, who also double as Kosofe Local Government APC Youth leader, Mr  Alufohai Omokhudu gave kudos to Okanlawon initiative of unifying the youths and removing their minds from streets through the soccer tournament. He said what the Honourable has done is to discover new talents at the grassroot.
Earlier before the final, two Clubs had slugged it out to decide third place winner.
Kaakaki Football club dishonoured Honour F.C by drubbing it 2 goals to nothing to lift  3rd place trophy.

OGUNLEWE'S AIDE, FUNSHO SAMAGBEYI, BURIES FATHER IN-LAW IN DELTA STATE. The father-in-law of the Senior Special Assistant on  Health to Hon. Barr. Moyosore Ogunlewe was on Saturday buried in his hometown at the Frederick-Ishie Residence, Along Frederick-Ishie Crescent Umutu , Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State. The late Mr. Frederick O. Ishie  who died on 20th day of August 2023 at the age of 70 years, was the father of Dr.Mrs. Samagbeyi.    The late Frederick served as the general manager (Technical) of the Insurance Powerhouse, Standard Insurance Consultants.  Late Fred is an associate member of the Institute of Commercial Management Berkshire England and also an executive member of American Institute of Management, Boston.
