House Of Rep 2023: Rotimi Olowo crushes Ademorin Kuye in Somolu APC Rep's ticket via online polls.
As Nigerian politicians jostle with their followers in preparation for primary elections to determine their party's flag-bearer in the 2023 general elections, projections and political calculations are going on at the local governments, states, geopolitical zones and national levels of the political parties.
The ruling party, All Progressives Party (APC), is no doubt the party with the most valued ticket in the country to clinch victory at the polls in the general elections of 2023 with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the Nation's Political referee.
The APC, the dominant party in the Southwest region of Nigeria, especially Lagos State which has the best, most enlightened and cooperative State House of Assembly in Nigeria, which has been made more conspicuous since the inception of RT. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa as the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly.
One of the most resourceful and vibrant members of Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Olowo Rotimi Emmanuel, representing Somolu Constituency 1 had shown interest to represent Somolu Federal Constituency at the green chambers of the National Assembly, the seat presently occupied by a former council chairman of Somolu Local Government and Lagos State Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Ademorin Kuye.
An online polls was created in Somolu few days ago to serve as a litmus test prior to the primary elections where Olowo Rotimi will be digging it out with Ademorin Kuye and the result of the online polls dealt a huge blow on the personality of the incumbent House of Representatives member, Ademorin Kuye.
The web link for the online poll was shared on all the community, political and religious social media platforms withinn Somolu, Bariga, Akoka and Fadeyi environs where 607 media savvy constituents voted for Olowo Rotimi and Ademorin Kuye while some neither voted for either of them.
According to the polls which was created by Somolu born Lagos grassroots journalist, Educational & Media Technologist, a Federal University of Technology Minna Alumni, Owolabi Oseni, out of the 607 votes casted online, Hon Olowo Rotimi pulled 516 votes which is 85.01% while Hon Ademorin Kuye was left with 76 votes which amounted to (12.52%) where 15 votes preferred none of the two aspirants for APC ticket.
Despite the fact that online polls does not determine election victory in Nigeria, the analysis of the online polls does reveals the popularity, acceptance and goodwill of the aspirants among their constituents.
According to grassroots findings about the two aspirants, the online polls authenticated the grassroots presence of Hon. Olowo Rotimi who had facilitated huge projects to Somolu as a member of Lagos State House of Assembly.
Scholarships, roads, schools, vocational trainings, employment, empowerment are amongst such projects Hon. Olowo Rotimi has shared among his constituents and Bariga which falls under Somolu Constituency 2 but in Somolu Federal Constituency by extension.
Moreover, in this modern politics where electorates are more enlightened, politically oriented and filled with the knowledge of global politics as well as being conscious about their choices of leadership and representatives, political parties must wake and live up to the frequency of Nigerian citizens. While some politicians rely on their popularity, goodwill, commitment and grassroots involvement, some politicians are still bent on the crude methods of politics by relying on lobbying leadership of their parties which in many occurrence, the decision taken may be against the popular demand and such in most cases make the popular party to be unpopular at the general elections.
