....... OGUNLEWE HOSTS THE FIRST LADY AND TOP PLAYERS IN HEALTH SECTOR.
The Secretariat of Kosofe Local Government was a beehive of activities yesterday as the campaign against children killer disease, Measles was flagged off by the first lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-olu.
Welcoming the first lady and her coterie of health officials that accompanied her, the Executive Chairman Kosofe Local Government, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe said the good people of the council were highly honoured to host such an important dignitary and the top officials from health sector in the State and global representatives.
The Council boss said the Council Measles is an acute viral respiratory illness characterised by a prodrome of fever, cough, coryza, and highly contagious followed by maculopapular rash, adding that the infection often come with severe complications or death.
The council boss thanked the ministry of Health, primary Health care Board, UNO, UNICEF and the office of the first lady for the collaboration to save the children from the killer illness .
Ogunlewe said the good people of kosofe particularly mothers, CDA and CDC should seize the opportunity to immunise their children, adding that Kosofe care, the pet project on health is also available for the health care of the people.
The first lady of Lagos State, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-olu in her keynote address implored all the mothers all over the state to take the advantage of the campaign tagged 'year 2022 integrated Measles vaccination campaign in Lagos State' to vaccinate their children against Measles and other killer diseases.
Sanwo-olu said further that the State was being partnered by UNO and UNICEF. The programme she explained further would commence from Friday 17th June to Monday 4th july, 2022 adding that Local government coucils LCDAs, primary Health Centres, homes of prominent people would be used as designated centres while health workers and volunteers numbering over 30,000:would be deployed for the important exercise.
The First lady added that over 4 million children are targeted for the programme.
Sanwo-olu did the breakdown of the exercise in two streams With first streams covering local Governments as Agege, Alimosho, Amuso Odofin, Badagry, ibeju Lekki, Kosofe, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island and Surulere. The second stream which would begin on June 27 and end on july 4th covers Apapa, Epe, eti-osa, Ifako Ijaye, Ikeja, ikorodu, Mushin, Oshodi-isolo, Ojo and Somolu.
She particularly appealled to make folks take the campaign to every home as fathers in order to save life.
She thanked all the stakeholders in health sectors beginning from the Ministry of Health, the host Board, primary Health care Board, Development partners like UNO, UNICEF and Red cross Local Government and people generally. She implored people who wanted to serve as volunteers to come forward and be counted since most of the health workers have travelled out of the country.
