Hon. Sanni Okanlawon Urged Kosofe Residents To Register, Collect Their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) and Vote.
_The 8th edition of the Lagos State House of Assembly Stakeholders Meeting with the Theme *2023 General Election: The Imperatives Of Permanent Voters' Card (PVC)* has been held at Mende Town Hall, Mende, Kosofe Local Government , Lagos State.
The program which witnessed a massive attendance of major Stakeholders, political leaders, community members, spiritual leaders, market men and women, politicians, youths, and other party faithfuls.
_Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon, the Chief Host, welcomed the Stakeholders' and residents to the event with his keynote address and appreciated all for their attendance, he also used the occasion to appreciate all party members. He also utilized the event to commend all Kosofe people for the full support. He read the keynote speech from the Lagos State House of Assembly._
_*The highpoint of the event was the sensitization lecture by the guest speaker, Dr. Olayiwole Onasanya, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Electoral Commission (LASEIC), in a lecture delivered, noted that it is the right of all eligible citizen of the country to vote and be voted for in the election and permanent Voter's Card gives the power to make vote count and with your PVC, you can add your voice to the conversation.
He reiterated that the best way to impact government and governance is to be part of the democratic process and people should translate their anger against the political system through participation in the political process. In addition, he said there is no political booths on social media.
Furthermore, he advised the participants who are qualified to vote inrespective of the political parties they belong, age, gender to register, collect their PVC and Vote (RCV) on election day.
In his keynote address, OKLA, enjoined the elderly, youths and everyone in his Constituency to get their Permanent Voter's Card, keep them well and make use of it during the election in order to have a saner society by voting those that merited it so that they can enjoy good governance and dividend of democracy. Also, he posited that the people can use their PVC to change bad governance for good governance and that the permanent Voter's Card is their power, strength to determine good governance in Lagos and Nigeria in general.
The Stakeholders' meeting was equally an avenue for the Chairman House Committee on Education (Ministry/Agencies) to reel out some of his achievements. The savvy legislative tactician has been actively involved in law making processes through sponsorship of bills into law such as: Cooperative Societies Law, 2021, and Lagos State Institute for Legislative Studies and Research Law, 2022. He also Co-sponsored bills into law and presented motions like: Need to protect local marketers and entrepreneurs from unhealthy Competitions and Call on the State government to establish Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMES) and commercial hubs in all the senatorial districts of Lagos State. He also Co-sponsored several motions.
The lawmaker facilitated the the on-going construction of First Ultra Modern Fire Service Station In greater Kosofe Constituencies, Oworo second access road, Ganiyat Dawodu street, Adegbenro Street, Kosofe Local government/Pastor Ayorinde Road, Otunba Oladele Boulevard, rehabilitation of Bush street, Ogudu road, Kujore Street, Olatunji Street, Aroworamimo Street, Ajose Street, Salami Street, construction of Anthony-Gbagada expressway and Ojota 2nd pedestrian bridges, Dr. Onuzo/Dele Onabule/Shitta Bay Street collection drain in Arowojobe Mende, Mende-Arowojobe Access Link bridge, establishment of ICT Centre in Emmanuel High Primary School, Ojota for the use of Six public schools, sponsored debate competition among public secondary schools that generated first ever one day legislator, distributed educational materials to schools, organised grassroots football tournament tagged 'Okla Unity Cup' to showcase the skills of the youths, foster unity and friendliness amongst communities and engage them positively.
Also, Hon Okla gave out Scholarship and free health insurance awards to students in higher Institutions who hailed from humble backgrounds and financial challenged to foster good education. He also made it known that he facilitated the employment of constituents into government ministries, agencies and Parastatals. He facilitated the employment of over 60 Constituents into Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), employment of doctors, consultants and nurses into LASUTH, employment of 15 LAWMA Waste Police, 3 Neighborhood Corps/KAI, Local government commission (2), Ministry of Justice (1) as a legal counsel to Onigbongbo LCDA, gave out POS Machine (Agent banking) to 44 Constituents, 3 LAWMA Project Staff, Micro business support fund for businessmen and women, Widows support fund, Monthly Stipends for voluntary teachers, admissions of students into tertiary institutions and Public schools, Agricultural training and empowerment, Solar Street light to Soluyi 1 Community and many more.
