CONF. 57 CPS TO HOLD ANOTHER RETREAT OCTOBER.
The Conference 57 Chief Press Secretaries, Lagos State has commenced preparation for the Year 2022 Media Retreat.
In the words of the *Chairman Conf. 57 CPS, Mr. Ayodele Ayeyemi,* he confirmed that this year will be the 5th Edition and will hold in Bariga LCDA.
This year is remarkable as it marks the 5th year. The first retreat was held at Badagry, next was Ibeju, Yaba, Mushin LG and now Bariga LCDA. Said Ayeyemi
Bariga LCDA is significant to our history as Conf. 57 CPS, that was the point we had our first meeting during the formative period of the association.
We are also using this years to honour the ALGON President, Hon. Kolade Alabi who also doubles as the Chairman Conf. 57 Chairmen in Lagos State.
Let me also speciallly appreciate all the Conf. 57 Chairmen, our bosses, who have shown serious commitment to our development and given adequate support over the years, they are the best ever. Said Ayeyemi.
Acxording to Ayeyemi, the event is scheduled to hold from *14th to 16th October, 2022.* with the theme *Free and Fare Elections; The Role of Grassroot Media*
We have carefully chosen the theme for this year considering the political environment ahead of the general elections which media plays a very active role.
We are fifty seven (57) across the Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State and we have consistently promote, protect and project our council, most importantly our principals, the Local Government Chairmen. Ayeyemi added
It is however important to state that the role of media in elections contribute hugely to the success of a free and fair election.
We do not only serve as observers, we ensure effective monitoring at polling units, cover major campaigns, serve as intelligence body to security agencies etc.
These and many more are the reasons we need to re-energise ahead, learn new skills in technology, report writing and lots more through training from experts. He added.
The Chairman, Retreat Planning Commitee, Mr. Toheeb Dada, however added that this year's retreat promises to be igniting, interesting and productive as top journalists and media experts have been contacted.
Top among the list is Mr. Kolade Babajide-Otitoju of TVC, Mr. Ayodeji AbdulRauf, CEO, Think Start-Up Beyond Borders Inc. amongst others.
We will also definitely have time to unwind, unite, network and connect, said Toheeb.
