OGUNLEWE, ACCESS BANK FULFILL PLEDGE....
.......Commission state of the Art Primary Health Centre at Oworonshoki.
It was a flurry of activities in the week as the tireless Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe, less than 24 hours after commissioning a Customary Court and water fountain, commissioned another high-brow project, a state-of-the-Art Primary Health Care Centre at Oworonshoki in collaboration with the Access Bank plc.
Speaking with the newsmen, the Council Chairman expressed his profound gratitude to the financial institution for its corporate social responsibility.
He said the local government went into partnership with the Bank by providing the land through the CDA and the traditional ruler, Oloworo, while they built the glistening facility.
He called on the people of Oworonshoki to maintain the facilities which are now two in their community as this happened to be theirs not the government per se.
On the functionality of the Health Centre, Ogunlewe said he would convene a meeting comprising of MOH, who is the head of health section in the Council and the Permanent Secretary, of the Ministry of Health to fashion out how the centre would be properly managed for the good people of Oworonshoki.
Speaking in a similar vein, the House of Representative Candidate in Kosofe Federal Constituency, Hon. Kafilat Ogbara who was highly delighted with the health facility expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Access Bank for coming to the aid of Oworonshoki Community through its Corporate social responsibility.
Ogbara was of the opinion that if other corporate entities could emulate what Access Bank has done, Nigeria would be better, as government could not do it alone which is the spirit of public sectors partnership.
She advised other organisations to scan their immediate environment to see what can be done for the people because it was a question of reciprocity - give and take.
She added further that the people of Oworonshoki must endeavour to give maximum maintenance to the facility promising to be in partnership with the local government, house of Assembly and the State government as a Member of House of Representatives.
Mr. Taiwo Fowowe, the Chief Financial officer of Access Bank, like Hon. Ogbara explained that Corporate Social responsibility was one of the key policies his Bank took very seriously.
He said the Bank examined minutely the environment they operated, see the area of their needs and how they can partner with the community to improve the living standard of the people.
The Bank representative said the health sector was the area they chose as a pillar of support and focus.
Said he, "This year, for our financial control, strategy and enterprise business support, we chose Kosofe Local government, specifically, Oworo for their population and number of lives to be impacted in term of health care delivery. We partner with the council and Oba Oloworo to build this facility".
Mr. Fowowe said with the mammoth population of about five hundred thousand people, Access bank might consider establishing one of its branches here.
He promised that the health facility would be maintained by his bank.
The paramount ruler of Oworonshoki kingdom, Oba Babatunde Saliu, the Elebo ll, was the happiest person as the health facility was being commissioned less than a year of his installation as Oba.
"I want to thank the management of Access Bank for deeming it fit here in Oworo by giving us this edifice which will improve the lives of our people. They don't need to run to the General Hospital at Gbagada for treatment of minor injuries, malaria and deliveries.
"We've gone around the facility to see the equipment and other medical tools; in fact, it is more of a hospital than just a Health Centre.
" We thank them very well for the great opportunity given to us in our community and we pray that they will continue to grow from strength to strength in Jesus name" He enthused.
Oba Saliu echoed people's request by imploring the financial organization to come and build one of their branches in Oworoshoki to cater for the great population of people living in Oworo who often keep their money at home.
He said the people have a lot of money if Access bank could acquiesce to their request of moving their branch to Oworonshoki.
Community Development Committee (CDC) chairman, Hon. Segun Babatunde on behalf of the community thanked Chairman, the Oba and particularly Access Bank for the giant health centre. He enjoined people not only to patronize the facility but also to give maximum maintenance.
The newly constructed healthcare centre was commissioned by Alhaja Kafilat Ogbara, All Progressives Congress Kosofe Federal Constituency Candidate.
